In the quest to eat healthy and live a well life, we try to eat the best we can. This can be difficult because there are a lot of foods out there that may seem healthy but actually aren’t. Large food companies try to take advantage of the health conscious by advertising their products as healthy, but the facts show that these foods are not as good as we might think. Check out some of these foods that might seem healthy but are actually not so good for our health and waistline:
Wraps – These popular lunch on-the-go sandwiches may seem healthy because they have less bread than a traditional sandwich or burger, but often times the size of the wrap is enough for two people. The tortilla can be filled with carbohydrates and fat. If your wrap is filled with fatty meats or a thick cream based dressing, it probably isn’t healthy for you.
Veggie Burgers – While they are a healthy alternative to regular hamburgers, the frozen kind often contain unhealthy fats, wheat, and carbohydrates. Make sure to read the ingredients and that actual vegetables are in the patty.
Gluten-Free Bread – Gluten-free products can be filled with sugar to make up for the lack of gluten. They also often contain more sodium than traditional bread. Make sure you choose a product that has brown rice flour in the ingredients.
